LEED, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System™, is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs on energy savings, water efficiency, emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and sensitivity to their impacts. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
LEED is a point based system where building projects earn LEED points for satisfying specific green building criteria. Within each of the LEED credit categories, projects must satisfy particular pre-requisites to earn points.
