InnoVida Holdings, LLC has pledged a donation of 1,000 houses/shelters to Haiti. Structures are waterproof, wind and earthquake resistant.
We are now in the process of partnering with different non-profit organizations that will assist us in this endeavor (among them World Vision, Habitat for Humanity and Medishare). We are also making an assessment of the situation, identifying possible locations and the immediate building/housing needs. A delegation from InnoVida went to Haiti on Saturday, Jan. 30th and met with President Préval and local authorities.
Our plans are to ship the first structures in the next 30 days.
InnoVida will follow the construction guidelines established by the Haiti Recovery Team that is now in formation. It is now too early for us to have a master plan of where we will build in the country and what type of structure is best suited for that locality.
We are planning to install an InnoVida manufacturing facility in Haiti by the end of this year. We have been working on this project since the beginning of 2009 and plans are being finalized. The investment is approximately $15 Million and we have obtained a commitment from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) for financing. This facility will generate 250 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs its first year and will have the capacity to produce approximately 10,000 houses per year.
InnoVida manufactures Fiber Composite Panels (FCPs) which are used to build houses, offices, schools, warehouses, medical centers, manufactured, modular and mobile homes, shelters, etc. The structures made with FCPs are:
InnoVida is committed to the Haiti Relief Effort. With our donation of 1,000 homes and the installation of a local FCP manufacturing facility we hope to provide jobs as well as housing to thousands of Haitians with the greater hope of assisting in the full development, rebuilding and modernization of the country.
