FAQs

What type of structures can be built with Fiber Composite Panels?

Used for walls, roofs, floors and foundations, Fiber Composite Panels can be used to build homes, schools, commercial buildings, warehouses - or any type of structure normally built using traditional construction methods and materials. In addition, due to the properties of the components, InnoVida can also produce floating platforms for any type of structure.
How strong are they?

Fiber Composite Panels are designed to be load-bearing and are rated up to 10,000 lbs/sft (50 ton/m2) vertical load and 400 lbs/sft (2 ton/m2) horizontal load.
What about fire protection?

Fiber Composite Panels are non flammable, does not spread outside the area of direct flame and extinguish when source is removed. Panels maintain structural integrity after 2 hours at 1250°C (2280°F)
What about heat insulation?

Fiber Composite Panels R value is 5.65, significantly reducing the amount of energy needed to heat / cool buildings.
How is waterproofing done?

Fiber Composite Panels are naturally waterproof. Multiple panels bonded together using InnoVidaBond? form a monolithic waterproof structure, much like the hull of a boat.
How about hurricanes?

Fiber Composite Panels have passed up to CAT 5 hurricane wind and impact tests.
How about earthquakes?

Fiber Composite Panels deflection capacity is 20%, compared to typically 5% for traditional buildings a together with the monolithic construction help our buildings sustain earthquakes.
Can the walls be covered?

Walls can be covered with any desired finish, stone, stucco, siding, wallpaper, paint, etc.
How do I hang things on the walls?

We recommend using wall anchors. For light items a screw or nail may be enough.
How are electrical cables, water pipes etc. installed.

Similar to traditional construction.
What kind of windows and doors are used?

We use traditional windows and doors.
How are Fiber Composite Panels repaired?

To maintain structural integrity large damages are repaired by cutting out the damaged area and bonding a new panel its place. Small damages, holes from nails or screws, can simply be plastered.
What kind of roof structure is used?

Roofs are built using standard Fiber Composite Panels.
Can walls be opened for expansion/construction purposes?

In general yes, but as walls are structural bearing elements there are some requirements as to how this is done. Please contact us before making any major holes in the existing structures.
Are there alternative solutions for water storage, sewage and electrical power?

Yes, there are systems for water treatment, air conditioning, and ventilation that are installed in the base of the houses.
Do InnoVida buildings crack?

Due to the monolithic construction process expansion and contraction is uniform making cracks unlikely. High quality composite materials have been used more than 50 years without developing cracks.
How does UV LIGHT affect the PANELS?

The first resin of our type was used in 1945. Since then, it has been used as a standard building material giving us more than 60 years of applied knowledge and proven technology.

As with many other materials, UV light can be destructive. A simple and effective method to avoid this damage is by painting the surface. This completely removes the UV lights detrimental effects and is the recommended protection for our panels.

Sailplanes have been around for more than 50 years and are exposed to high levels of UV light, much higher than most other structures.

There are yachts built in the 50's that do not show any UV damages. Not only do they need to handle direct UV light, but also the indirect light bouncing on the water surface while being in a salty environment.

The wind craft industry builds wind generators with the same material. They use standard paint for protection and give 30 years warranty as this is a requirement for the government programs often financing the installations.

A lot of mega yachts are build with the same material by owners who can choose between the best materials available.
Their choice is Epoxy resin!
How many square meters of panel are needed to build a house?

Rule of thumb is that you need 6 times the buildings floor space.
Can the material be recycled?

Our construction method is to deliver panels in the shape required to the construction sites thus none or little scrap is produced. Panels from demolished buildings can be recycled in new buildings or shredded and reused in raw materials.
